The twelfth work in the [Maum San책 Short Stories] series is 『Planetary Language Bookstore』 by novelist Kim Cho-yeop, who has opened new horizons in Korean SF literature. She vividly unfolds fourteen stories collected from a "village of refreshing tales." Starting from the reality we stand on, these works address contemporary issues such as disability and hatred, conflict and coexistence between different species, and environmental destruction, as they journey into a cosmic world. Pahira, a patient with 'contact syndrome' who experiences terrible pain whenever anything touches her body due to surgical after-effects (「Hugging a Cactus」); a professor living as a non-adaptor to the procedure in a world where a translation module implanted in his brain allows him to understand tens of thousands of galactic languages (「Planetary Language Bookstore」); a frail, unknown boy who suddenly appears in a swamp where a mycelial network forms a collective intelligence (「Boy of the Swamp」); and the mysterious owner of a bizarre restaurant located in a corner of a dilapidated rest stop (「Other Inhabitants of Earth」) are all oddballs and outsiders in this world. Kim Cho-yeop leads readers to directly confront the lives of others, and further, minorities, thereby promoting coexistence beyond mere recognition and acceptance of diversity.

[Maum San책 Short Stories] has been much loved for its harmonious blend of text and illustrations. This time, 『Planetary Language Bookstore』 features Choi In-ho (Dion Choi), a rising illustrator active in Korea and New Zealand, known for his surrealist art. His lyrical illustrations, imbued with fairytale-like imagination and soft, warm colors, amplify the lingering impression of the stories.
