The old man began to feel sorry for the great fish that was hooked on his line. It was a magnificent creature. A rare one. How old was it, the old man wondered. I have never encountered such a strong fish, nor have I seen one behave so strangely. It must be too clever to leap out of the water. If it were to leap or thrash, I would be helpless. Perhaps it has been hooked a few times before and knows how to deal with it. It couldn't possibly know that the person it is fighting against is just me, an old man at that. I've really caught a great one. If its condition is excellent, it could fetch a very high price at the market. The fish bit the bait like a male and pulled with male strength, showing no signs of panic. Did it have a plan, or was it fighting as desperately as I was?
