Shall our sins discourage us? Christ came for sinners. Art thou broken-hearted? Be not discouraged. He calls thee. Do not hide thy wounds, but lay them all open before Him. Go to Christ, even with a trembling heart.

A momentary fear or a brief sorrow is not true brokenness. It must be a sorrow that makes us hate sin more than punishment, and moves our heart to inflict holy violence upon sin. But this much is certain: in Christ there is greater mercy than our sins. It is better to go to heaven broken than to go to hell whole.
