그룹 ‘방탄소년단’(BTS) 메인 댄서 제이홉이 자신의 예술적 뿌리인 ‘스트리트 댄스’를 소재로 한 음반과 다큐멘터리를 선보인다.

19일 소속사 빅히트뮤직에 따르면 제이홉은 다음달 29일 국내외 음원 플랫폼에 스페셜 앨범 ‘호프 온 더 스트리트(HOPE ON THE STREET) VOL.1’를 공개한다. 총 여섯 곡을 담았다. 2022년 7월 발매된 첫 솔로 정규 앨범인 ‘잭 인 더 박스’를 잇는 활동으로, 입대 전부터 준비해 온 기획이다.

앨범 트랙과 같은 숫자인 총 6화로 구성된 동명 다큐멘터리도 오는 28일 티빙과 미국 프라임 비디오 등 국내외 온라인 동영상 서비스(OTT)를 통해 공개된다.
제이홉은 춤이라는 소재를 공유하는 음악과 다큐멘터리 영상을 동시에 제작해 자신만의 음악 메시지를 표현하는 방식을 택했다. 이를 위해 그는 입대 전 일본 오사카, 프랑스 파리, 미국 뉴욕, 한국 서울·광주에서 다양한 장르의 댄서들과 춤으로 소통했다.

빅히트뮤직은 “솔로 아티스트 제이홉의 한층 성장한 역량을 확인할 수 있을 것”이라며 “제이홉은 이번 스페셜 앨범과 동명의 다큐멘터리 시리즈를 처음부터 유기적으로 기획했다”라고 설명했다.

제이홉은 현재 육군 36보병사단 신병교육대 훈육 조교로 복무 중이며, 전역 예정일을 오는 10월 17일이다.
